Job Description: We’re currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our Ultimate Observer team for our leagues and tournaments. As a Ultimate Observer, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring fair play, sportsmanship, and a fun atmosphere for our players.
Responsibilities:
- Officiate Ultimate games, enforcing league rules and regulations to maintain a level playing field.
- Manage game flow and maintain control of the field, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
- Make accurate and timely calls on plays, fouls, and other game-related incidents when asked/needed, using sound judgment and discretion.
- Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and league officials, addressing any questions or concerns with professionalism and clarity.
- Provide guidance and instruction to players as needed, promoting sportsmanship and fair play.
- Collaborate with fellow Observers and league staff to ensure smooth operations and successful game days.
- Check in players (when needed)
Requirements:
- Available on Wednesday, Thursday and/or Sunday Nights
- Strong knowledge of Ultimate Frisbee rules and gameplay
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle conflict and be authoritative during rule disputes
- Good personality and people skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
- Available to officiate games in the Northern VA area
- Willing to commit to a full season (8 weeks + playoffs) or longer
- Prior experience as a sports official or umpire preferred, but not required – we welcome officials of all levels and will train you!
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the kickball season.

Pay is $25 per game with 2-3 game shifts.
