Job Description: We’re currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join us as Softball Umpires for our leagues and tournaments. As a Softball Umpire, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring fair play, sportsmanship, and a fun atmosphere for our players.

Responsibilities:

• Arrive at the field 15 minutes before game-time
• Check in players (when needed)
• Officiate softball games, enforcing league rules and regulations to maintain a level playing field.
• Manage game flow and maintain control of the field, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
• Make accurate and timely calls on plays, fouls, and other game-related incidents, using sound judgment and discretion.
• Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and league officials, addressing any questions or concerns with professionalism and clarity.
• Provide guidance and instruction to players as needed, promoting sportsmanship and fair play.
• Collaborate with fellow umpires and league staff to ensure smooth operations and successful game days.

Requirements:

• Should be USA Softball Certified or High School Certified
• Good understanding of USA Softball rules
• Must learn FXA Sports softball rules
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle conflict and be authoritative during rule disputes
• Good personality and people skills
• Able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
• Must have reliable transportation
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old
• Available to officiate games in the Northern VA area
• Willing to commit to a full season (8 weeks + playoffs) or longer

Pay is $35/game with 2 or 4 game sets each shift.
